The paraphrased quote above from 1 Corinthians 3:18 applies to all ages of people. The ministries of the church connect us to one anther, but more importantly they challenge us to experience the transforming power of the Holy Spirit who shapes us to be more like Jesus.

We welcome you and your family to participate in the ministries listed below.

Ministries for young people

Soma is a community of young people seeking and serving Jesus together. We call ourselves "Soma" because it's the word the New Testament uses to refer to the "body" of Christ, and that's exactly what we are—one body, made up of many members, with Christ as our head. Each one of us is a unique gift to the church, and it's our joy to pursue his purposes in our lives.

We gather each Tuesday night to pay attention to what God is doing among us and be challenged and encouraged in following Jesus. We're also frequently connecting with one another outside of these regular meetings to enjoy the shared life we have in Christ.

Tuesday meetings happen at Living Word from 6:30-8:00pm and are open to students in 6th-12th grade. Connect with us on Facebook, Instagram, or by email to learn more about what God is doing among us and how you can join in!

"In Christ we, though many, form one soma." Romans 12:5

GEMS girls club is an awesome place to be for girls 1st - 8th grade.  Every Wednesday night (except the last Wednesday of the month) from 7pm until 8:30pm, we join together for an incredible time of worship, teaching, games, crafts and fun all with the purpose of having a closer personal relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ along with lots of building each other up.

In addition to our Wednesday night meetings we also plan many special events throughout the year.  Past events have included Roller Skating, Bonfires, Mother/Daughter events (Luau, Tea, shopping), Father/ Daughter events (Bowling, Country-Western night) and our Grand Finale Sleepover at the church.

The Living Word Church GEMS club is run by Tiffany Wells and Sara Thompson.

If you have any questions about GEMS, please call the church office at (708) 895-4673 or email us.

Royal Rangers

The Royal Rangers program is an activity-based, small group church ministry for boys and young men in grades K-12. Rangers meets on Wednesday from 7pm until 8:30pm.  Our mission is to evangelize, equip and empower the next generation of Christlike men and lifelong servant leaders. We provide Christlike character formation and servant leadership development for boys and young men in a highly relational and fun environment.

The Royal Rangers program is a cross-generational ministry that interconnects well with children, youth and adult ministries and fits easily into the fabric of pastoral vision and into the flow of church ministries.  We affirm the male hands-on, interactive learning style by featuring an intentional discipleship journey for boys and young men based on their unique design, needs and interests. Every meeting, outing or service activity is designed to encourage boys and young men in their walk with God.

We provide men with the tools to model Christlike manhood as they mentor boys on a Bible-based, Christ-centered, Spirit-empowered journey to maturity in the faith. Boys learn to study and apply what the Bible says about integrity, doctrine, biblical worldview, cultural issues and manhood. In addition, the Royal Rangers ministry molds boys into servant leaders, teaching them vital social, equipping, attitude, leadership and service skills.

Royal Rangers is led by Senior Commander Dave Blaski and Commander Dean Matykiewicz.

If you have any questions about the Royal Rangers, please call the church office at (708) 895-4673 or email us.

College & Young Adults Ministry

The Lighthouse is a young adult's ministry tailored to college aged through 28-year old adults from any church background who meet every other Thursday. On off weeks, we often take extra time to plan what might be going on next week, brainstorm how to improve our group, or simply take extra time to fellowship by hosting events, organizing prayer meetings, or spending time in worship.

Our Men's & Women's ministry are important ways that we disciple both individuals and families. There are regular Bible studies for women that usually meet Wednesday evenings during GEMS and Royal Rangers. There are special events for men throughout the year that have included the Men's Stepping Up series, shotgun shooting and retreats.
